Councillors

Councillor Dean Janzen
Born and raised in Tisdale, Dean and his wife are proud to have built their careers and raised their two sons in the community they deeply cherish. With a profound love for the town and its people, he brings 24 years of teaching experience in Tisdale, during which he had the privilege of helping shape the lives of local youth. His background in education has developed his strengths in collaboration, communication, and resilience—skills he believes will be invaluable in serving the community as a member of council.
A passionate advocate for youth engagement, Dean has long prioritized creating meaningful opportunities for young people. This commitment inspired him to manage the Falkon Theatre, where he worked to provide enriching weekend activities for youth while also supporting local businesses. His work with the theatre has been both enlightening and rewarding, and he remains continually inspired by the overwhelming support of the Tisdale community.
The decision to run for council has been years in the making. Three years ago, Kurt Johnson encouraged him to consider public service. At the time, a full-time teaching career made it impractical. Since retiring, however, Dean has grown increasingly interested in municipal affairs and now feels ready and able to commit fully to serving his hometown.
He emphasizes that he brings no hidden agenda to his candidacy. His decision to run is not driven by a particular issue but by a desire to contribute positively to a town he believes is already on the right path. With a steady hand and a hopeful heart, he is eager to help guide Tisdale into a strong and vibrant future.

Kurt Johnson
Having called Tisdale home for the past 28 and a half years, Kurt and his wife, Benthe, have proudly raised their family in the community. In 2010, they founded Twisted Metal Custom Collision, reflecting their deep commitment to local development and entrepreneurship.
Over the years, Kurt has been actively involved in the community through volunteer work and coaching youth soccer. He also serves as a director on the board of the Saskatchewan Association of Automotive Repairers, further demonstrating his dedication to the industry and province.
During his first term on Town Council, Kurt has found the experience both rewarding and challenging. He remains optimistic about Tisdale’s future and the opportunities for continued growth and prosperity.
As the community evolves, Kurt believes it is essential to address the needs that come with expansion—particularly by enhancing recreational and social activities for both youth and seniors. He also emphasizes the importance of supporting local businesses and ensuring that Tisdale remains a safe, inclusive, and welcoming place for all residents.
Looking ahead, Kurt is eager to continue building on the momentum of past achievements and to work collaboratively with residents and fellow leaders toward a thriving future for Tisdale.

Amanda Reynolds
A lifelong resident of Tisdale, Amanda is deeply committed to the community she calls home and believes that the town thrives when everyone works together toward a stronger, more sustainable future. Raised in Tisdale, Amanda takes pride in watching her two children grow up actively involved in local sports, employment, and volunteer opportunities. Her passion for community development is evident in her extensive service over the past 20 years. She has held numerous leadership roles, including Co-Chair of the Tisdale SloPitch League, Past President of the Tisdale and District Chamber of Commerce, and active member of various boards such as Tisdale Rockin’ the Square, Northeast Health Plex, and the Tisdale and District Museum.
Most recently, Amanda has been actively involved with a newly formed committee dedicated to attracting and retaining health care professionals in Tisdale. The group has engaged with government officials to advocate for more positions and is continually developing innovative strategies and unique incentives to promote Tisdale as a welcoming, long-term home for health care workers.
As a business owner, Amanda brings a strong sense of commitment, attention to detail, and a practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the community. She is particularly focused on promoting economic growth, expanding rural amenities, and advancing health care initiatives.
Reflecting on her first term, Amanda describes the experience as educational, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. With a renewed sense of purpose, she looks forward to the opportunity to serve the residents of Tisdale for another four years.
Amanda Reynolds Magnus is committed to building a stronger, more inclusive Tisdale—one that is ready to meet the future with confidence and unity.

Councillor Brendan Samida
Born and raised in Eldersley, just minutes from Tisdale, Brendan has deep roots in the region and a strong connection to the local community. A graduate of TUCS, he built a successful career in management with Sask Wheat Pool and Viterra, where he developed extensive leadership experience and business acumen.
In 2015, Brendan and his wife Kaylene made the decision to return home with their three daughters—Mia, Emmi, and Rowyn—to contribute meaningfully to the community that has always held a special place in their hearts. Upon returning, he became a partner in the purchase of a long-standing local business, further investing in Tisdale’s growth and prosperity.
Driven by a passion for civic engagement, Brendan joined Town Council at his first opportunity and has proudly served two terms. During his time on Council, he has been a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility, helping to manage tax increases in a sustainable way—even as many other communities faced significant hikes to meet infrastructure demands.
Looking ahead, Brendan is committed to building a vibrant and sustainable future for Tisdale. He is especially focused on creating opportunities for local job growth, so that the next generation—including his own children—can return home and build meaningful lives in the community. His vision is rooted in ensuring Tisdale remains a strong, welcoming, and resilient place for generations to come.

Councillor Robin Shellito
Robin Shellito was born in Tisdale and spent his early years in the community before moving with his family as his father, Terry Shellito, pursued his career. Despite relocating, Robin always considered Tisdale home, returning often during the summers and fostering a deep connection to the town.
After graduating, Robin worked in the oil field and took time to travel before returning to Tisdale in 2009 at the age of 25. Upon his return, he worked for a local farmer until 2015, when he took a bold step into entrepreneurship by founding Tisdale Rentals. He owned and operated the business for eight successful years before joining AgWorld Equipment Tisdale in 2023, where he now serves as the rental lead and JCB salesman.
Robin and his wife, Rikki-Lynn, are raising their two children, Parker and Norah, in the community they proudly call home. Their household also includes a few beloved dogs. As active members of the community, the Shellito family has been billeting players for the Tisdale AAA Trojans for the past six years. Robin also serves on the Trojan Board and is passionate about supporting local youth and sports development.
Robin brings a strong sense of community, commitment, and integrity to everything he does. With no specific agenda, his goal is simply to see Tisdale grow and thrive—now and for future generations. He is dedicated to listening to the concerns of residents and being a strong, thoughtful voice on town council.
Robin’s roots run deep in Tisdale, and he couldn’t imagine raising his family anywhere else.
